Bev and Mark Houlding have been working together as independent artists for 20 years. Beginning in 1984 at the start of the designer maker movement under the name of "Screens Gallery" they made room screens, experimenting with many different materials including glass, metal, and sail cloth. Over the next 10 years carved and painted wood became the preferred method of working, producing large free standing paintings. These pieces were exhibited widely in the U.K and internationally and were collected by private and corporate clients including public musems.
The last screens were made in 1999 and the name "Screens Gallery" was dropped. Since then they have concentrated on their paintings and continue using many of the materials and techniques that were developed in the making of the screens. Under the name HouldingandHoulding. Bev and Mark continue to enjoy success selling widely both to collectors and first time buyers.
